CIPRA: "Future in the Alps" 2005
Over 570 projects from 8 Alpine countries were entered into the competition. Werfenweng won the prize for it's' solutions for sustainable mobility for tourism and recreation. Tourism and recreational mobility: incentives package for rail users and visitors who choose to take a "holiday from the car" was also highly commended by the jury.
Nets Awards 2004/5
This award tackles the problems of traffic, stress and accidents on holiday.
Werfenweng was highly commended in the mountains category for its' "soft mobility
- holidays without a car" project. The protection of environment through the use of
public transport was also a winning factor.
Sustainable economies 2005
Again the "soft mobility - holidays without a car" was highly commended as well
as "energy for the future" for Werfenweng's alternative energy project. The
jury looked at measures, projects and concepts leading towards more
environmentally friendly communities.
European Eurosolar prize 2003
Werfenweng was highly commended from amongst many other competitors
in the "Parish and town" category in the Eurosolar prize. Werfenweng was
commended for it's "soft mobility" project and use of alternative energy sources.
Energy Globe 2007
In 2007 Werfenweng won one of the most important environment awards.
The "soft mobility" project won in the "air" category as Werfenweng offers
environmentally-friendly, "clean" holidays.
