Winter walks

Simply beautiful.

Racing against your dad, hurtling over a jump you've just built yourself, or leaning into the curves at lightning-fast speeds. Children love sledding. And for adults, it bring backs wonderful memories of days past. But for those who prefer a gentler pace, Werfenweng is also home to magical winter hiking paths, accompanied by scenery you'll not soon forget. After all, it is often the small things in life that bring us the greatest joy of all.
It doesn't always have to be skiing. Winter hikes and sledding are every bit as much fun.

The snow covered landscape radiates a certain kind of magic. The sun beams change the natural environment into a sea of glittering gem stones.

Hiking Paths

To Tennenblick

The route passes by the church, past Gasthof Schöntal and finally to Gasthof Tennenblick. You can then sledge back down the hill so don´t forget the toboggans! Great walk which is perfect for kids.

Hike Time: ca. 30 min.

To Almstüberl "Zan Hascht"

A path with glorious alpine scenery: It leads via the Eulersberg and Steinberghof to the Obereulersberggut, then via the road down to the Schwaighof. From there, it continues to the turn-off for the Almstüberl. Reservations are necessary for the Almstüberl, Tel. +49(0)6466/20090 (closed Thursdays). Tip: For the return trip, make arrangements for the Werfenweng Shuttle to pick you up, free for holders of the SAMO Advantage Card.

Hike Time: ca. 60 min.

To Zaglau

Idyllic winter walk along a cart path leading across snow-covered meadows next to the landing site for paragliders. The Zaglauhof, which is next to the lifts, is a wonderful spot to recharge your batteries.

Hike Time: ca. 30 min.

To the Sonnseit'n Hochmaisalm

From the church, the path leads out along the Eulersberg winter hiking path to the Schwaighof. From there the path becomes somewhat steeper, but you are finally rewarded with glorious views and delicious homemade dishes.

Hike Time: ca. 60 min.

To the Gamsblickalm

A thoroughly relaxing hike to the glorious valley head in Wengerau: Immediately after the bridge across the stream, the path takes us away from the road and across the snow-covered fields of the Wenger Tal. When we are ready for something to eat, the Bettleralm and Gamsblickalm await.

Hike Time: ca. 45 to 60 min. one-way

To the Zistelberg

This leisurely walking tour leads from the town center along the Zistelbergstrasse until just before the bridge over Wengerbach stream: Make a left, crossing the meadow, then alongside the stream towards Oberegg riding stables. Refreshment opportunity a little higher up at Gasthof Zistelberghof.

Hike Time: ca. 30 min. one-way

To the Restaurant Eulersberg

A path with glorious alpine scenery: It leads via the Eulersberg and Steinberghof to the Obereulersberggut, then via the road down to the Schwaighof. From there, it continues to the turn-off for the Eulersberg Appartements. Tip: For the return trip, make arrangements for the Werfenweng Shuttle to pick you up, free for holders of the SAMO Advantage Card.

Hike Time: 60 min. one-way
