How to obtain your SAMO - Advantage pass.

You must have booked with one of the 42 participating SAMO hotels and guest houses. If you arrived by bus or train, you can simply get your SAMO pass from the tourist office. If you travelled here by car, you have the opportunity to benefit from the advantages of the SAMO pass too: simply park your car and hand over your car keys to the tourist office in exchange for your SAMO pass.

Our Werfenweng Shuttle: Stress free transfer from the train station to your hotel.

Our transfer service is not only available for your arrival and departure. Whenever you need to, no problem - our shuttle will take you safely and comfortably to and from Bischofshofen. All you need to do is call. Whilst we drive, you can look out the window in peace and admire the landscape as it passes by. No need to worry about planning the route or finding a parking space - it's your free time!

 

The Werfenweng Shuttle

The Werfenweng Shuttle goes every 2 hours from Bischofshofen station to Werfenweng via Pfarrwerfen and back. Those travelling by bus or train can use the shuttle for free for their arrival and departure as well as throughout their holiday.

On the move in Werfenweng: our free Taxi service.

Car-less and still mobile? We make this concept possible. The "ELOIS" taxi service and night shuttle transport our guests with the SAMO pass in and around Werfenweng.

 

ELOIS

Our SAMO Taxi operates daily from 9.00 until 22.00. Please be patient. We do our best to minimise waiting times. When demand is high, you may have to wait a little longer.

Werfenweng Night-Shuttle

The taxi service for all you night owls operates between 19.00 and 04.00. It runs daily during the winter season (December to April) and on Fridays and Saturdays only during the summer (May to September).

Pay-as-you-go mobile phones

Each family can borrow a mobile phone for when they wish to call the shuttle or taxi. All call charges are payable on return of the mobile phone. The deposit is 30€.

We are lucky to live surrounded by some of the most wonderful scenery in the world. We want to preserve this beauty in its entirety. This means keeping our pure mountain air free from harmful exhaust fumes. Our lively grasshoppers are really something special! They run on biofuel, which is made from meadow grass.

Modern hybrid - technology
Go on an excursion in the Toyota Prius, the most environmentally friendly, land-based, hybrid vehicle.

Much-loved and seriously cool: our original fun-bikes are available for free hire during the summer months from the village square. With the smart relatives of the classic bicycle and our electronically powered fun-bikes, the young and young at heart can take enjoyment to another level!

New! Conference (Gaudi) Bike

You will have probably never seen anything like it: 7 people ride together and share the pedalling. The real selling point is that you sit face-to-face in a circle and just one of the riders steers the bike in the right direction. Give it a try, and experience the adrenaline rush.

New! Recumbent bicycle

This bike is the perfect combination of relaxation and activity. The recumbent bicycle can negotiate the jumps of a skate park with ease. You can sit back and travel in comfort without tiring as quickly. A hit with the kids!

Whether a ride across the valley is on the cards or a journey of discovery through the wild alpine world, we have a vast range of rental bikes which are suitable for a leisurely ride or an adventure, for pros and beginners, for the old and young!

Our bike taxi

The return journey to Werfenweg is a challenge even for the most competent of riders. So you can relax, our bike taxi will pick you up from Pfarrwerfen at the end of your bike ride and take you back to your hotel.

Travelling by train with a bike

Most trains both from and to Bischofshofen allow you to take bicycles onboard (we recommend reserving in advance). The bike taxi will happily pick both you and your bike up from Bischofshofen train station.

Riding, rolling and having fun: our offers for the little ones.

Our youngest SAMO guests also benefit as we have a variety of kids' bikes available for hire. The little ones can safely zoom around the village square whilst the parents relax in a café. No cars makes this possible and safe.

The wonderful world surrounding Werfenweng; our free summer excursions.

Visit the world's largest artificial ski jump, the world's largest ice caves, the world famous Mozart town and experience life in the Middle Ages. We will take you in our comfortable bus to the most popular excursion destinations in the area. So, climb aboard, have a look around and be astounded!

Visit the ski jump in Bischofshofen

Every Monday: Travel to Bischofshofen, guided walk to the ski jump and a visit to the Olympic buildings. Depart from the village square at 14.30 and return at 17.10.

Excursion to Eisriesenwelt

Every Tuesday: Excursion by bus to the world-famous ice caves. Entrance is not included. Depart from the village square at 9.30 and return at 13.30.

Excursion to Mozart's town of Salzburg

Every Thursday: All-day excursion to the beautiful town of Salzburg. Depart from village square at 9.30 and return at 16.00.

Excursion to Hohenwerfen Castle

Every Friday: Excursion by bus to Hohenwerfen castle. Entrance not included. Depart from village square at 9.30 and return at 13.30.

Every Tuesday academic painter Erwin Hafner invites you to a painting taster session from 10.00 until 12.00.

Guided walks along the alpine pasture paths

Every Wednesday. Meet at 10.00 in the village square. Lasts about 5 hours.

Guided herb-walk with Karin Mayr from the Untereulersberghof

Every Thursday. "What grows successfully in our delicate meadows and alpine pastures?" From 9.30 until 11.00, meet at the Tourist Office. Weather dependant.

Nordic walking - guided walks

This laid-back and healthy sporting activity is suitable for all ages. Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10.15. Meet at the village square.

Collect 10 points from the shop and "Nah & Frisch" - the supermarket that offers more - will treat you with a bag of Salzburg Mozartkugeln.

Toboggan rental from Sportalm Strussing

Go tobogganing after a leisurely break at Sportalm Strussing. A ride down the 6km long tobogganing slope into the valley is an unforgettable experience. When you reach the bottom simply drop your sledge off at the collection point.

Toboggan rental for families

Great for the little ones, who simply sit on the sledge whilst someone stronger pulls them through
the snow. Families with kids aged 4 and under can borrow a sledge from the
Tourist Office for their winter walks. (Subject to availability, 50 deposit required)

Winter magic in Werfenweng: our alternative winter programme.

Horse-drawn carriage trips

It's pure romance - snuggling up beneath blankets aboard a horse-drawn carriage. The trips take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 14.30 and 16.30. Meet in the village square. The trips last about 1 hr 30 minutes with a short stop. Signing-up is recommended.

Only 1 trip per stay.

Snow shoe walks

Journey through the heart of our winter wonderland.
Free snow shoe rental from Sport 2000 next to the IKARUS gondola.
Free guided walks every Thursday from 14.00. Meet in the village square. The walk lasts about 2 hours. Signing-up is recommended.

Llama trekking

An unforgettable, torch lit winter walk on these exotic animals. The trek takes place every Wednesday at 19.30. Meet in the village square. The trek lasts about 45 minutes.
Only 1 trip per week.

The Ski bus

The ski bus takes our guests directly to the ski area, where 25km of pistes of varying difficulty and many cosy ski huts are waiting.

SAMO all-inclusive alpine offer

If you are staying at a SAMO hotel or guest house then you can benefit from all the SAMO advantages. Ski rental from Sport 2000 and with your lift pass you can use all the lifts in the Werfenweng ski area.

Excursion to Salzburg

The fourth largest town in Austria and one of the most beautiful in the world has also been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The city's most famous son, Amadeus Mozart, was born in Salzburg. Every Wednesday you have the opportunity to visit Salzburg in our comfortable bus. Depart at 10.00 and return at 16.00.
