Let's hit the trails!
Cross-country is healthy, and is just as much fun whether you enjoy a leisurely tour or an exhilarating sprint. Well tracked and clearly signposted trails guarantee uninterrupted cross-country enjoyment.
The Wengerau-Trail is driveable at your own risk!
Wengerau Trail
The very heart of Werfenweng's trail network. You will glide from the starting point in the center of town, out across the gently climbing, snow-covered meadows of Werfenweng valley, steadily drawing ever closer to the breathtaking mountain backdrop of the Tennengebirge with its famous Eiskögel. In Wengerau, the beautiful valley head, you reach the highest point of the trail. Skiing past the Gamsblickalm and the Bettleralm, you make your way back towards the mouth of the valley. But at the popular sledding hill, you have a decision to make: either deeper into the valley again towards Zaglau before returning, or return straight away to your original starting point in the town center. The Wengerau trail actually has a second access point, below the lift car park in Taglau.

Eulersberg Trail
The 6 km-long Eulersberg Trail begins on the village square. After a short forest stage, a whole new side of Werfenweng reveals itself, the Eulersberg. As the name suggests, many owls make their home, and can also be heard here. The trail is very sunny, it being no coincidence that it leads past Werfenweng's big solar power plant. After a refreshment stop at Gasthof Hochkönigblick, it is time to return through meadows and forests to the starting point on the village square.

Eulersberg Skating Trail
For rookies in this technique or for a quick treat in-between, the 3 km-long Eulersberg skating trail is ideal. It runs from the town center, parallel to the classic Eulersberg trail, but branches off before the main road in a loop towards the Leitenhof, then leading back to the town center. And if that was too short, why not add one more bonus lap!

Panorama Trail
The 6 km-long Panorama Trail does full justice to its name. From the town center, the trail leads us to a sunny plateau atop the Zistelberg. There you can enjoy beautiful, broad views stretching from the Tennengebirge, Hagengebirge and Hochkönig mountains, all the way out to the Hochgründeck.
"The sun seems to shine there all day long!"
The trail leads past beautiful farmhouses and across snow-covered meadows, returning in a big loop back to the starting point. A break at the beautiful Zistelberghof, which the trail runs right past, certainly wouldn't hurt at all.
